Hi, I'm Not A Terrorist but I Get Angry A Lot

Assalamualaaukum!

One thing I am embarrassed of about myself is my temper. I was never aware of it until my cousin pointed it out to me. And when something happens, she would be the first one to notice and say "anger management." It has been sort of a joke in the family. But since then, I have been carefully monitoring how I react to certain anger-provoking situations. And admittedly, fine me, I am guilty. Fortunately, I don't get HULK-ish angry thus needing further help. But to be honest, I get angry  more often than sometimes.
Ibn ‘Abbas (ra) narrated, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “And when you get angry, keep silent.” (Ahmad, Ibn Abi Dunya, al-Tabarani, and al-Bayhaqi)

The hadith above simply states what's best be done with anger. It can be hard to not deal with my anger immediately, but I try my best to control it. Why? Because as a Muslim, I must follow the ways of the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. and he advised us to "stay away from anger." When I get pissed, I talk myself out of it and/or walk away for a moment and/or take deep, relaxing breaths. Helps big time. I still tend to think of what transpired and what made me angry but eventually the anger fades, and I am back to being all jolly.

Like today, my Aunt made a provoking observation about my room using words that were, well, kind of anger-provoking. I didn't say anything. I walked away, went to my grandparents' room and prayed my Asr prayer. After, I felt better but still bothered about what she said. So, I went online and read through what the Quran says about such emotion. I get to read the hadith stated above and felt glad that I have been keeping silent when I get angry. Hehehehe. But I am not proud that I am angry a lot, this is something that I still have to work on.

For those who have been struggling with anger, I leave you with this:
